Twenty-Somethings Take Note: More Single 40-Somethings are Dating Than Ever Before

Forty-something singles -- they know who they are and what they want -- especially when it comes to dating. In fact, according to a new survey from Pond's(R), one-half of women ages 40 - 49 (50 percent) report a willingness to turn tradition on its head and ask a man out on a date.

Pond's polled 1,000 single 40- and 20-something women and uncovered that when it comes to dating after 40, women are not afraid to go after what they want. Maybe that is because 80 percent of 40-something women say that they are more self-confident now than their former 20-something selves.

Pond's "The New Prime" Survey Results

  * 60 percent of 40+ women say they are seeking "fun" over a "commitment"

  * 57 percent of 20-somethings would rather be in a committed relationship

  * 91 percent of 40-something women say they would date a younger man -- up
    to nine years their junior

  * 45 percent of women 40+ will make him wait five dates to do the deed

"Women 40+ know that there is nothing more attractive than confidence," says Clinical Psychologist and Relationship Expert Dr. Joy Browne. "These women also know what their assets are and how to emphasize them -- they know that a good haircut, glowing skin and flattering outfit can really make them feel good about themselves.

That is a big part of why 40-something women are willing to put themselves out there. Being comfortable in one's own skin is an advantage."

Pond's is celebrating this "new dating prime" by inviting women to enter to win one of a thousand "Divine Dates," including a grand prize trip to Rome. The sweepstakes will give confident 40-somethings the chance to ask that special guy out on a "grown-up," sophisticated date experience.

"Pond's is the perfect partner for a woman's pre-date beauty ritual," says Anne Jensen, Pond's Brand Development Director. "Pond's knows how to make 40+ skin look its best with a line-up of anti-aging of products that give 40-something women the beauty edge -- in dating and in life."

"Divine Dates" prizes include one grand prize for a fantasy trip for two to Rome, 10 first prize chances for a weekend spa getaway for two and 1,000 second prize chances for dinner and a movie for two. Now through September 24th, visit the Pond's aisle at drugstores, mass merchandisers and supermarkets nationwide to purchase specially marked Pond's products for the chance to win.

Like all women, those who are 40+ do have some beauty concerns. Just over one-half (51 percent) of the women in their 40s admit to using anti-aging products to combat the visible signs of aging. T

heir biggest concerns: the eyes (dark circles and crow's feet) followed by wrinkles. Pond's anti-aging products are designed to keep skin looking fresh and beautiful year after year.

With ingredients like China clay, alpha hydroxy acids and soy that gently purify skin, the Pond's face care line was specifically created to address aging skin. The line features products like Age DefEYE Anti-Circle, Anti-Puff Eye Therapy for more expressive eyes (and better flirting); Purely Polished(TM) Micro-dermabrasion Anti-aging Kit for soft, touchable skin; and Radiance Restored Age-Defying Skin Brightening SPF 15 Moisturizer for a glowing complexion.
