Working mothers have always known how hard it is to spend time with their children. Sadly those who build an economy where mothers must work simply don't understand what they are doing to our children
If you’re a working a mother then you know just how hard it is to spend quality time with your children. Sadly, in a world where families cannot survive unless both parents work, the grim reality is that these days even quality time with the kids is shrinking. Years ago families did have options when it come to whether a mother worked or not but these days it’s down to sheer survival. If a couple wants to put a roof over their family’s head and food on the table then there is no option but to have both parents working. Of course, those of us who have had to work understand the realities of life when both parents work but it has been hard to quantify those realities. Well no that has been done thanks to a survey in Britain. There the Office for National Statistics looked at more than 4900 people over the age of 16 to find out what they did each day. The grim finding for working mothers is that they spend just 19 minutes a day in quality time with their children. Sure they might spend a lot more time than that at home each day but one-on-one time with their kids amounted to just 19 minutes a day. You can read more about the study here |
